NATALIE DON MSP WELCOMES ‘OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE’ EXPERIENCE OF SOCIAL SECURITY RECIPIENTS IN RENFREWSHIRE

SNP MSP Natalie Don has commended the work of Social Security Scotland, as new figures show the positive experiences of benefit recipients overall, applying for and in receiving those benefits.

Figures from Social Security Scotland’s Client Survey reveal that, of those in receipt of benefits in [AREA]:

·       90% said their overall experience was very good or good

·       90% said their experience applying for benefits was very good or good

·       95% said their experience receiving benefits was very good or good

The survey found that 97% of recipients of people across Scotland received their payments on time, 90% said their experience with staff was ‘very good’ or ‘good’ and 93% feel they were treated with kindness.

The SNP Scottish Government has built a welfare system rooted in dignity, fairness and respect; whose foundational principle is to help and support the most vulnerable, in stark contrast with the DWP.

Commenting, SNP MSP for Renfrewshire North and West, Natalie Don, said:

“These new figures show the real difference that devolving social security powers can make to the day-to-day lives of people in Renfrewshire.

“The SNP Scottish Government has built a welfare system rooted in dignity, fairness and respect; whose foundational principle is to help and support the most vulnerable, in stark contrast with the DWP.

“I am pleased that recipients in Renfrewshire have an overwhelmingly positive experience with Scotland’s devolved social security system – people should always feel encouraged and respected in getting support.”
