4,150 LOCAL BUSINESSES AND ORGANISATIONS PAYING ZERO RATES
SNP MSP for Renfrewshire North and West, Natalie Don-Innes, has welcomed the news that 5,160 properties in Renfrewshire benefited from £21.9 million in non-domestic rates relief in 2024—thanks to SNP policies.
Through Scottish Government initiatives like the Small Business Bonus Scheme, eligible businesses and organisations can receive up to 100% rates relief. In Renfrewshire alone, this has meant 4,150 organisations pay no non-domestic rates at all.
Welcoming these figures, Natalie Don-Innes highlighted the SNP’s continued commitment to supporting local businesses and organisations.
Commenting, Natalie Don-Innes MSP said:
“It’s fantastic to see that over 5,000 businesses and organisations in Renfrewshire have received a total of £21.9 million in rates relief this year, thanks to SNP policies.
“This includes 100% rates relief for 4,150 small businesses and organisations—a hugely significant level of support.
“Scotland’s business rates relief system is the most generous anywhere in the UK, with over 95% of non-domestic properties paying less tax than their counterparts elsewhere. In 2025-26, over 100,000 businesses will pay no rates at all.
“At a time when many businesses are struggling, this support is a lifeline for local firms. It demonstrates the SNP Scottish Government’s unwavering commitment to backing small businesses and organisations in Renfrewshire and beyond.”
