SNP GOVERNMENT SUPPORTING KIDS ACROSS RENFREWSHIRE NORTH AND WEST
Natalie Don-Innes MSP has welcomed new figures which reveal £1.081 million has been invested and twelve play parks improved across the local authority, including Play Areas at Glebe Street, Campbell Street, Anne Avenue, Urquhart Crescent, and Victory Gardens in Renfrew, Barwood Park Play Area in Erskine, and Station Road Play Area and Outdoor Gym in Langbank.
In addition to this, planning is also taking place for enhancements to a further six play parks in Renfrewshire including, Robertson Park in Renfrew and Stuart Road in Bishopton. To help inform designs, public engagement activity will take place for the sites included in the 2025/26 programme and consultation is expected to begin soon.
The Scottish Government has provided £35 million to renew or improve play parks since May 2021 - £15 million in 2024/25 alone. A total of 887 play parks have been renewed, or were being renewed in Scotland, up to April 2024.
This investment is ensuring children across the country have safe places to play in their local community and is an important priority for First Minister John Swinney’s Government, supporting his mission to improve the lives of children across Scotland.
Commenting, SNP MSP for Renfrewshire North and West, Natalie Don-Innes MSP, said:
“Safe and accessible outdoor spaces play a vital role in improving family wellbeing while also supporting children’s development and growth.
“Thanks to funding from the SNP Scottish Government and Renfrewshire Council, we have successfully delivered refurbishments and enhancements to play parks across the constituency. It’s great to see the next stage of these plans progressing, ensuring even more families benefit from high-quality outdoor spaces.
“The SNP’s commitment to investing in free outdoor play is making a real difference in our communities – this is exactly the kind of positive change delivered by the SNP."
